Sailboat renovation
In this category you will find our blog posts related to our sailboat renovation, all posts except the engine renovation. We are renovating our sailboat Anne-Mon so that we can cross oceans with her. When we bought the sailboat she had been abandoned for 10 years and there are a lot of work to get her in a good condition. We do all work ourselves and hopefully this will inspire someone that it is not impossible to restore a sailboat and be able to sail around the world with an older sailboat. We have also done a complete renovation of our engine, a Volvo Penta MD19, and all posts related to the engine renovation can be found under the category Engine. Electrical system work
The autumn has arrived early in Sweden and the entire weekend there has been some rain, so instead of going sailing we worked with the boat. Most of the work this weekend has been focused on getting electricity to more functions. We will redo the entire electrical system on the boat, even though some of it where connected when buying the sailboat, the boat has been left alone for over 10 years so some of it needs to be changed anyway. We also want to have good knowledge of our electrical system so that if (or when) something breaks we can easily fix it, because we have made the electrical…

Birthday celebration and boat work at Björkskär
Next part of our sailing/boatwork week, we sail to Björkskär, install a solar panel, celebrate Petra’s birthday and get the sea water pump working. We left Horsholmen and started sailing towards Björkskär in the outer archipelago. The winds where still strong and we started by setting the furling head sail and sailed with it until we arrived to Björkskärsfjärden where we hoisted the main sail as well (we had taken the furling head sail down before to pass through a narrow strait). The wind where still quite strong, 18-20 knots gusting around 22 knots. Our initial plan was to head for Stora Nassa so we set a course so that…

Final preparations before our summer sail
Before our summer vacation sail we had some small final preparations to get the boat in order. First up was to get the old piece of teak back in position in the cockpit. We have bought a new Garmin plotter which needed a position as well. We chose to place it under the spray-hood. We had one idea of putting it one the mizzen mast together with the other instruments but there is not room enough on the mast have it in a good way. We have also bought a new refrigerator, Dometic CRX 110, which needed to be installed as well. We thought for some time to build our…

Propane installation
We have thought long and hard on how to solve the propane installation on our sailboat. The solution was not obvious. The first idea when we bought the boat was to have the propane in one of the hatches in the cockpit, where the pervious owner had their bottle. But when we started measuring we would not be able to fit the propane bottle we wanted to have through the opening of the hatch, there’s plenty of room inside the hatch but the opening is to small. We want to have pretty big bottles so that we don’t need to fill them up so often, and we also want to…
