48V Lithium system in our new sailboat
Next up in our refit is to redo the electrical system to a 48V Lithium system in our sailboat.
In this episode we go to pick up our new LifePo battery cells and Victron inverters which is really exciting! We talk a bit about how the electrical system on the looks like today and what our plan is with the new system. We also go back to visit the sailboat after not being there for a while due to really cold weather. We make sure the sailboat is in good condition and also double-check some measurements for the batteries and inverters.
In the second part of our battery build we start building the battery out of the battery cells to make it a 48V battery. We also charge the battery for the first time and do some balancing of it.
After we finished building the battery in last episode, the time had come for us to do a capacity test! Meaning that we charge the battery to 100% and let run it until we have fully discharged the battery.
We finish the final installation of the 48V Lithium battery build and do a load test of it as well as a full-on charge test.
We are Thomas and Petra and late August 2020 we left Sweden to start our first sailing adventure. We sailed for a year to the Caribbean and back again. October 2023 we bought a new sailboat, a Wasa 530 that is need of some renovation.
On our youtube channel (youtube.com/sailingannemon)you will be able to follow our process – from buying a sailboat that has been standing for 10+ years and turning her into a perfect blue water cruiser!
Our plan going forward is to post a new video bi-weekly on Saturdays.
More info about our new boat can be found here: About/The Boat – Anne-Mon II.

Our first boat Anne-Mon I was also a renovation project. On this website we have a lot of blog post about the renovations of Anne-Mon I.
