Sailing vacation in Stockholm archipelago – part one
We had finally finished the preparations necessary for a summer sail, so it was time to go on our sailing vacation in Stockholm archipelago 🙂 our plan was to sail a little bit more south than we usually go with our ship. On the map below the first part of our sailing trip can be seen. We will add part two shortly. Day one We woke up and finished the final preparations before we set off. The first part we motored towards Fjäderholmarna where we stopped to fill up some diesel and buy a ice cream. It was very little wind but we set sail anyway, the mizzen sail, main…

Final preparations before our summer sail
Before our summer vacation sail we had some small final preparations to get the boat in order. First up was to get the old piece of teak back in position in the cockpit. We have bought a new Garmin plotter which needed a position as well. We chose to place it under the spray-hood. We had one idea of putting it one the mizzen mast together with the other instruments but there is not room enough on the mast have it in a good way. We have also bought a new refrigerator, Dometic CRX 110, which needed to be installed as well. We thought for some time to build our…

Propane installation
We have thought long and hard on how to solve the propane installation on our sailboat. The solution was not obvious. The first idea when we bought the boat was to have the propane in one of the hatches in the cockpit, where the pervious owner had their bottle. But when we started measuring we would not be able to fit the propane bottle we wanted to have through the opening of the hatch, there’s plenty of room inside the hatch but the opening is to small. We want to have pretty big bottles so that we don’t need to fill them up so often, and we also want to…

Companionway door renovation – part two
Time for part two of the companionway renovation! If you want to read part one, click HERE. After adding wood putty and sanding the companionway door several times it was time to put it together. First up was the frame, it is made of stainless steel and it was Anne-Mon’s previous owner that had made this. It is a well made frame so it is really nice to save some time and money. It feels really nice to have a proper door, but it is not completely finished. We are still missing a part for the handle, which we have ordered and should be arriving soon. We will also varnish…

A new kick for the boom on the main mast
On our boom for the main mast we don’t have any kick. The reason for that is probably that our boom can be rolled around to reef the sails. What we read is that this was used a couple of years ago and that it usually doesn’t work very well, since the shape of the main sail changes. But we haven’t tried this function yet so we can’t really say anything about it. We decided to mount the kick so that we could remove it and try this rolling function of the boom and see for ourselves if it is something to continue use or if it is better to…
