Holding tank – part one
After we sailed back to the city the first thing we did was to clean the boat up, taking down the sails, remove all the fabric inside etc. After that was done we started our first major project for the autumn, making a holding tank. As mentioned earlier we have read that in most countries there is no regulations towards holding tanks, but in Sweden (and some other european countries as well) it is if the boat has a toilet, so we will need a holding tank. It is not only because of regulations we want to have a holding tank, it is also nice to be able to swim…

Sailing back to Stockholm city
During the weekend we went sailing for the last time this year, which was sailing back to Stockholm city for the winter. We have had her further out in the archipelago during the summer so that we didn’t have to sail the long distance from the city every time we wanted to go sailing. It is approximately 20-25 NM to sail from central Stockholm to reach the first nice archipelago islands. There are some places in between, but they are not as good as the ones you find further out. But the summer is definitely over now and during the winter we want the boat closer so that we can…

Autumn and winter boatwork plan
It is soon time for us to sail back into the city, where we will store our sailboat during the winter. We will keep the boat in the water during the winter, since we haven’t found a good and cheap spot on land. We still need to take her up on land before our departure, but this we will do when spring arrives and all other boats get into the water and then have her up as long as it takes to get all the land work ready. The major tasks we have for the winter are: Look at the steering and figure out a solution for the autopilot Install…

Autumn sail to Stora Nassa
During the weekend we decided to take a weekend sail to Stora Nassa, an island group in Stockholm archipelago. The weather was kind of cold and northerly winds around 7-9 m/s (14-18 knots) gusting up to 11-12 m/s (21-23 knots). We left work early on Friday and headed out to the boat and left as soon as possible. We have had a damage in our furling genoa, which we got fixed this week. We took the genoa and two other small headsails to Björn, a sailmaker in central Stockholm. He repaired the sails and took a look at them. We also got a lot of tips regarding sail care and…

Presentation of our Powersurvivor 80-ii water maker
Finally we have received our “new” Powersurvivor 80-ii water maker! We bought it second hand, it has had two owners in the past but has never been installed. It is an older version (the newer one is called Powersurvivor 80E-ii). It runs on the 12V system, meaning the solar panels, so we don’t have to start the generator or the engine in order to produce water. This is possible since this model reuses energy in a way the most other water makers just waste over a pressure valve. When this is installed Anne-Mon will become a pretty much self-sustained boat (except the diesel, but with our enormous tanks running out…
